Danzante

Between sun and shade, we dance all day.
The breeze so gentle, comes to play.
And then the wind, the flapping tent…
No sleeping and the poles are bent.

The orange sunrise joys the day,
Alas my head on pillow stayed.

Each morning coffee beckons sweet
The chill burns off, the day’s a treat.
Breakfast comes, served with a view,
And stories, laughter, things to do…

Then the day begins a pace
To pack up, to paddle, but not in haste.
There is a rhythm, a gentle flow
Always an offering, somewhere to go.

Much to learn, to do, to see.
And far to walk if you have to pee.

Blue bags expand to hold so much
The boat gets full with all our stuff
It’s all fine tuned by our dream team.
Fantastic guides, professional scene.

I am lucky that I joined this crew.
There is kindness here, generosity too.
My boat’s too small, there is some pain.
But overall so much to gain.

The sea is full of wild life
Smiling faces show our delight
Whales swim by and manta rays
Dolphins leap. such joy such play!

The landscape stark, rocks hard and dry,
Pelicans streak the huge blue sky.

Below, the teeming fish in schools
Floating free, colors rule.
Sergeant majors, groupers too
Angel fish and something blue.

Hike, swim, paddle, eat
I spend favorite time just in my seat!
The toilet setup’s really cool!
Poop with a view and follow the rules!

Foot petal, water pump, shade tents, chairs
Comfy camping, splendid fare!

Modelo beer, stones in shoes.
Jorge gives the evening news.
Salt water hair, sunburned skin
Antonio’s cooking, no-one stays thin.

The meals emerge, so very luscious
Cuisine extraordinaire, delicious!
Flavor, salsa, chicken, fish.
Tortillas, love served in a dish.

“Too old to paddle,” said old Tom.
I am Thomasa, yes I y’am
But kindness reigns, adventure pulls
Grateful to be here, heart is full.
