What to Expect:

You will arrive in Puerto Vallarta and take easy transport from the airport to Mar de Jade for the retreat. Settling in, you can rest poolside, enjoy a buffet lunch, and have time to recover from the travel. A happy hour gathering will be our first event and we will set the tone for the entire event: warm, welcoming, casual, accepting, and transformative.

Your companions on the journey will come from all over and it will be a delight to share and get to know each other. When women come together in a supportive community, the universe opens and miracles happen.

You will be staying together at Mar de Jade, a beautiful retreat center, along with at least two other groups. Single and double rooms are available which you will reserve directly with them. All meals are included and the food is renowned. Special diets can be accommodated. We will have a workshop space to use, with a beautiful ocean view. The patios, bar, pool, spa, and public spaces will be ours to explore and enjoy. The facility is right on the beach and the small town of Chacala is at the other end of the bay.

Our days together will unfold delightfully with an optional morning yoga class to start the day. We will have morning and afternoon classes with free time to integrate and explore. We will enjoy meals together and will have outings planned that will enhance our experience.  Our classes will include sharing circles as well as creative activities. Our daily movement practice, including ancient techniques drawn from eastern and indigenous medicine, will help us gain awareness and empower us to change.  

We will be creating an altar to our ancestors, inspired by the Day of the Dead, but in our own style. You are invited to bring photos and meaningful objects to place on the altar.

Our outings will include an opportunity to experience local culture.  We will include a temezcal, a traditional Mexican sweat lodge, as part of our work together, to use the elements to deepen our journey. 

Our circle time will involve the practice of open-hearted listening where we will learn and practice skills of witnessing and compassion. A field of compassion and nonjudgement will help us to move into a place of deep self-acceptance.  

As our time together deepens, we will begin to see themes emerge, to understand why we were called to this place and time, and to open to what will prove to be a miraculous, transformative experience.

Our days will be full but gently paced. You will have time to schedule a massage and to integrate all that you learn. Our activities will provide inspiration and an opportunity for expression and sharing. You will learn skills, try new things, and also rest, relax, reflect, and restore.  

Together we will create meaningful ceremonies and rituals that will help us shift old patterns. We will support and witness each other. We will celebrate together with play and laughter. The beauty and peace will be a balm for our spirits and we will be reminded of our true nature.

Johanna Munson is a deeply spiritual entrepreneur whose soul-centered leadership brings you peace of mind through End of Life planning. She has been in the education field for more than 40 years and brings her deep appreciation for the human capacity for continued growth to her work. Leading workshops, developing curriculum, and engaging with humans for transformation brings her absolute joy and fulfillment. Mediumship is her new passion and she brings about healing and connection through her contacts in the spirit world. She has completed certification as a Conversational Intelligence Coach, a Death Doula, and is a licensed Willow End of Life Educator. As a spiritual seeker she has explored many different religions and approaches to the age-old question of what it means to exist in a human body yet feel a soul calling. Her happy place is connecting others to their souls in a deep and transformative way.

Maria Cook is an adventure guide, medicine woman, energy worker, acupuncturist, and retreat leader.  She has a busy acupuncture practice on Bainbridge Island in WA.  She also leads retreats in Puget Sound and internationally, focusing on empowerment, adventure, and connection. Many of her retreats include wilderness adventure, often kayaking, and she also loves incorporating indigenous wisdom and partaking in ancient ceremonies and rituals.  She is an advanced student of listening techniques and a very experienced facilitator.  She practices qigong and energy medicine and has lots to teach about stress reduction techniques.  She combines the sacred with a sense of fun.  Participants on her retreats love her enthusiasm, authenticity, and playfulness.  Her passion is assisting others in transforming old beliefs and patterns so that they can live more fully, become all that they are meant to be, and shine their light out into the world which so badly needs us.
